Meghan Markle made a solo trip to Canada earlier this month, flew commercial, and made sure nobody took photos of her, according to several reports.
Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, made the solo trip to Canada earlier this month, flying commercial to see old friends, according to a report from ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
The report appeared to confirm an earlier article by the website Royal Central, which cited a source on August 19 who said that Markle was currently in Canada.
Royal Central also said that Markle flew with Air Canada, and that Kensington Palace wrote a letter to staff asking them to make sure that no one took pictures of her on the flight.
ABC News’s royal contributor Omid Scobie told “Good Morning America” that Markle visited Toronto for a three-day trip to visit her stylist best friend Jessica Mulroney — her first solo trip since her royal wedding in May.
While the pair mostly spent time in Mulroney’s apartment with her family, Markle and Mulroney “secretly headed out into the town to meet some of Meghan’s old good friends” on night, Scobie said.
“Meghan and Jessica spent their days catching up, lounging poolside and playing with children Ivy, Brian and John, who, adds a source, ‘love seeing their Auntie Meg.’ There was also an evening out with friends,” Scobie wrote on Twitter, summing up his report.
Markle lived in Toronto when filming TV show “Suits” as an actress.
Photographs from Mulroney’s Instagram account, posted before Meghan’s relationship with Prince Harry, show the pair together.
Mulroney and her husband sat in the front row for Meghan and Harry’s wedding, and their children all had roles in the wedding.
Royal reporters for some publications denied initial reports that Markle had traveled to Canada. Rebecca English, royal correspondent for the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper, tweeted on August 20 that Markle was not in Canada, and “won’t be going there anytime soon.”
Carolyn Durrand, a royal reporter and producer for ABC, tweeted on August 19 that reports Markle was in Canada were “inaccurate” — “She is not currently in Toronto.”
While reports stated that Markle was in Canada for three days, they did not specify the exact dates of the trip.
Markle was in London on August 29 for a gala performance of the musical “Hamilton,” which she attended alongside Prince Harry, who was raising money for his HIV charity Sentebale.
